It contains 40 towers (35 are residential and 5 are hotels), which can accommodate about 15,000 people living in its apartments and hotel rooms. The Project has 6,917 apartments, from 900 square foot studios to 5,500 square foot penthouses. JBR has a total of six residential blocks: Shams, Amwaj, Rimal, Bahar, Sadaf and Murjan (in order from west to east). JBR is within walking distance to Dubai Marina, Dubai Tram and Dubai Metro.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:heading --><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} -->\n<p>The developer, Dubai Properties (a subsidiary of Dubai Holding), launched JBR in August 2002. It was developed by\u00a0Dubai Properties, was completed by 2007 and opened officially in August 2008.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:heading --><!-- wp:list -->\n<ul><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li><strong>The Beach<\/strong><\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/ul>\n<!-- \/wp:list --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The Beach at Jumeirah Beach Residence is a retail complex constructed on the actual beach in front of JBR by Meraas Holding, a company owned by\u00a0Sheikh\u00a0Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the\u00a0UAE\u00a0and Ruler of\u00a0Dubai. The development, comprising four distinct plazas, occupies the bulk of the beachfront between the Hilton and Sheraton hotels and houses a number of levels of parking as well as seventy retail and food and beverage outlets, alongside entertainment facilities.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The Beach provides a view of the\u00a0Ain Dubai\u00a0(formerly the\u00a0Dubai Eye) observation wheel on\u00a0Bluewater Island, an artificial island.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:list -->\n<ul><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li><strong>Bluewaters Island<\/strong><\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/ul>\n<!-- \/wp:list --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Bluewaters Island\u00a0is a man-made island being constructed opposite Jumeirah Beach Residence.
