It is one of the many properties developed by Nakheel Properties, a development company based in the United Arab Emirates. The project was completed in 2006 and has since become a popular tourist attraction in Dubai.<\/p>\n<p>The islands were created using\u00a0land reclamation. The construction was done as a joint venture by two\u00a0Dutch\u00a0specialist companies,\u00a0Van Oord\u00a0and\u00a0Boskalis. The same companies also created\u00a0The World. The recently opened destinations The Pointe, Club Vista Mare and Nakheel Mall are the latest additions to Palm Jumeirah.<\/p>\n<p>The island itself is shaped like a palm tree, with the trunk being the part that connects to mainland Dubai, and the fronds being each of the individual branches. There are three different types of Palm Jumeirah properties: villas, apartments, or townhouses. All three offer their own unique style and amenities.<\/p>\n<p>The island is home to several high-end resorts, including the Atlantis Hotel.
